Daylight saving is here, and it brings with it my second favourite season(debatable). One extra hour of daylight coupled with winter-esque weather? Sign me up!
In line with scheduling my life, I’ve decided to start planning my spring in advance.
Have I mentioned what having a planner is doing for my entire well-being? There’s always something to look forward to. Even when I don’t end up doing said thing, there’s still the thrill of planning it and looking forward to it.
Anyways, my spring resolution is to take ‘touching grass’ to the next level and actually touch grass, so here are 10 things I’m looking forward to doing this spring.
Go hiking
What best time to do this than spring, when it’s neither too hot nor too cold? With the right weather and shoes, I can walk hours recreationally, so it’s only right, I do a proper day hike.
Have picnics
Whether it’s solo or with friends, in a backyard or in a park, I have plans of picnicking this spring. In addition to being one of the simplest ways to literally touch grass, it’s also one of the easiest ways to romanticise your life, and we’re all into romanticising our lives now, aren’t we?
Throw a little spring get-together
Did someone call my name??? People do all sorts of things to feel good, I host my little get-togethers. I’m looking to throw my first main one this spring, but who says it has to stop at one? Get 3-4 friends together and viola, you have a little get-together.
Check out local events
I believe there’s always something to do, you just have to look for it, and be open to it. Last week, I came across this networking event happening in my area and it was free! Two of my resolutions this year were to work towards my career, and improve my small talk/mingling skills, and here was an opportunity to tackle those. There is always something happening, and I plan to be on the lookout for local events.
Have a recreational routine
Whether it’s swimming, yoga, dance classes or cycling; anything. I’ve been wanting to incorporate a physical recreational activity into my weekly routine. Asides from choosing to walk to places and the occasional (and I mean once in a feel-bad day) YouTube workouts, I’m not an active person, and in the spirit of taking charge of my life, you’d see why I’d like to change that.
Resume solo dining
I might love Winter but I have to admit it’s not the best weather for spontaneity, and most of my solo dinings are spontaneous after-work affairs. With the extra hour of daylight, catch me eating out after work.
Do a little bit of Spring shopping
A little consumerism never kills anyone; (okay maybe except the environment, and the economy, and people), okay consumerism kills, but forgive me while I indulge in a little bit of it. A spring dress, a spring scent(eyeing Tom Ford Oud Wood), a hat, flowers, little displays of spring here and there.
Do work in cafes
Okay, I’m going to be honest, summer is the best time to work in cafes, but I hate summer so I’m going to start this spring. Doing work in cafés instantly elevates your work experience, the ambience, the food, the main character effect, look at me, I’m the girl in the café.
Go on a weekend trip
While I haven’t decided where to go yet, I’d like to go on a small trip; by small, I’m thinking ‘out of city’, not necessarily out of the province. Something to kickstart the year, dust my suitcase, you know.
Do a bullet journal polaroid page
This is easy to do. If you have a journal or a planner, draw polaroid-sized squares till the page is filled; and each time you go out, take a picture to stick to an empty square. The goal is to have each square on your allocated number of pages filled before Spring is over. If you’re anything like me, and you never seem to take pictures, now you’re obligated to go out, and also take pictures while you’re at it.
There we go, the ten ways I plan to enjoy spring outdoors this season. I’m open to other ideas so let me know how you’re looking to celebrate spring this season.
